Super-insulated 12” thick walls and triple glazed windows with large expanses of south facing glazing keep the homeowners warm and cozy in cold Vermont winter days. An air source cold-climate heat pump combined with a heat recovery ventilation system keeps the house at an ideal temperature year round. This also provides the occupants with a fresh and filtered environment.
All interior wood was milled from trees on the site. Maple windowsills and Maple and Ash trim work bring a rich, textural contrast to the the polished concrete floors. It doesn’t get more sustainable or beautiful than this.
A compact 1,750 square foot design that highlights the efficient use of space, it will allow the homeowners to age in place with single story living. This project has all of the characteristics of a Shelterwood Construction home: Warm, comfortable, healthy, sustainable, durable, and utility bill free.
