Hillside Home
Moretown, Vermont
This 4,200 square foot, 4 bedroom home, sits at the end of a dirt road, with a stunning view of the Green Mountains. The architect and builder collaborated on the high performance details they wanted to incorporate into this new home.
High performance details include double stud walls filled with TimberHP Timberfill dense packed wood fiber insulation. Ceilings are also TimberHP Timberfill to an R-80 insulation level. An exterior self-adhered air barrier/WRB was
utilized with all penetrations tightly sealed to give the home a tight blower door test of 0.33ACH50. Triple-glazed European tilt and turn windows complete this very efficient shell.
This all electric home features heating and cooling provided by a ducted Mitsubishi Cold Climate Heat pump and a ceiling cassette on the second floor. A Zehnder ComfoAir Q450 ERV provides fresh and filtered air throughout the home. These features provide warmth in the winter, cooling in the summer, and a fresh feeling year round to the interior of the home.
A 10.5KW photovoltaic system coupled with two batteries provide clean and plentiful energy. A level 2 car charger provides convenience to charge the owner’s electric vehicles.
Local pine siding provides texture and beauty for many years to come.
The interior is filled with light that sweeps across the extensive White Oak woodwork and cabinetry. This home features both long range views as well as short range views of the forest that it sits within.
